Ontario Tech Dominates Campus Clash While Queen’s Advances to OUA Finals

Basketball in Ontario heated up this week with standout performances from both the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks and the Queen’s Gaels, offering fans thrilling action and rising stars to watch.
Ontario Tech Shines at Campus Clash
Women’s Team: Led by local guard Brianna Morrison (Oshawa, ON), the Ridgebacks secured their third straight Campus Clash title with a commanding 37–16 win. Morrison was named Female Player of the Game for her aggressive defense and fast-break scoring.
Men’s Team: The Ridgebacks reclaimed the trophy with an impressive 88–56 victory, showcasing highlight-reel dunks and sharp perimeter shooting. Veteran guard Peter De La Paz earned Male Player of the Game honors for his leadership and clutch performance.
“We came in hungry after last year and made it count,” said De La Paz. “We’re just getting started.”
Queen’s Gaels Secure Spot in OUA Finals
Meanwhile, the Queen’s Gaels pulled off a nail-biting 64–62 win over Ontario Tech in the OUA semifinals, punching their ticket to the Wilson Cup Final and a berth in the U SPORTS Final 8.
Ollie Engen led all scorers with 26 points, while Luka Syllas added 15 points and 7 assists, including a clutch three-pointer late in the fourth quarter.
The Gaels out-rebounded Ontario Tech 46–42 and held their composure in the final minutes to seal the win.
“We trusted our system and locked in on defense when it mattered most,” said Queen’s head coach Stephan Barrie.
